Sean Terre Progresses from Sim-Racing to NXTGen Cup!

Sean Terre started with a dream—a dream every kid who has sat behind a virtual or racing wheel has had—to become a full-time racing driver. He will achieve his dream later this year and will do it for all the kids (and adults who act like kids) who cannot.

He inspires everyone in the e-sports and gaming community, bridging the gap between the virtual world and real life. He will be the youngest sim racer to get a full-time seat in a real race car, who skipped go-karts. He will be part of the 2025 NXTGen Cup grid. An electric touring car series racing alongside four DTMs races, dedicated to trying to find new talent whilst being eco-friendly.

Sean Terre’s story started during the COVID lockdown in Germany. To help him survive this terrible time of watching Netflix and eating Ben and Jerrys, he bought himself a cheap wheel and some pedals to plug into his PlayStation. He loaded up Gran Turismo, changing his life forever.

Terre practised and practised until he felt ready to challenge the best. During an online challenge, Adam Christodoulou was the first person to realise that this 11-year-old kid was someone to look out for. Terre beat Christodoulou by 0.03, putting his name on the e-sport map. Christodoulou encouraged Terre to start the racing simulator iRacing.

Since then, he has hit some impressive milestones. In 2022, he was the youngest competitor in the GT500 race at the ADAC Sim Racing Expo, but it didn’t stop there. In 2023, he was the German Vice-Champion in the F4 championship of the DMSB/DMSJ junior category. But in 2024, he finally got his junior championship title in the ADAC Sim-Racing Carrera Cup.

At this point, he had a few trophies to his name, but his dream was still to sit behind the wheel of a racing car and take the next step towards becoming a factory driver for DTM. A few months ago, he bumped into the founder of the NXTGen Cup, Fredrik Lestrup. Terre shared his story, accomplishments and how he helped design the Steer-By-Wire system for ZF Motorsport. Lestrup was impressed and handed Terre his dream—a scholarship to drive for the NXTGen Cup.

In a text message interview, Terre said, “I feel truly honoured to have taken the step at just 15 years old.”  He further expressed his excitement about being younger than the famous Jann Mardenborough, the basis of the Gran Turismo film.
“Now, I’m beyond excited to start in the NXTGen Cup! My goal for my first season is to be Rookie Champion.”

I will keep you updated on the NXTGen Cup series and Sean Terre’s impressive career.
